Common Computer Languages Taught in College
Ajax, Ruby Rails, Java, Python, HTML, CSS...the list goes on and on. Programming languages have evolved incredibly from what they were 10 years ago, even five years ago. A programming language is considered "artificial language" that is designed or created to communicate instructions in a tech environment, such as a computer. There are many different types of computer languages that are used to create common, everyday programs for word processing, video editing and even graphic design.
Careers in computer programming can range from video game design and creation to working as a specialist at an IT help desk in a corporate or government environment. In a post-secondary environment a program in computer science can encompass many different disciplines. Many times, there is really not just one program that will embrace them all.

C++ - C++ is one of the most popular programming languages and is used on a wide variety of hardware and operating system platforms. It is used in many domains that include systems software, application software, device drivers, embedded software, high-performance server and client applications, and entertainment software for as video games.
Ruby on Rails - also known as simply, Rails, is an open source web application framework the runs on the ruby programming language. It allows you to create pages and applications that gather information from the web server, talk to or query the database, and render templates out of the box. As a result, Rails features a routing system that is independent of the web server.
Python - Python is a general-purpose, high-level programming language whose design philosophy emphasizes code readability. Python's innovative language allows programmers to express difficult concepts in fewer lines of code than would be possible in languages such as C++, and the language provides constructs intended to enable clear programs on both a small and large scale.
